Week 6: Digital Audio
The goal this week is to add digital audio to an existing project to enhance its' value in my course.
Instructor Biography: Personal Digital Audio
The project above is from week three. It is an introduction to the instructor for my course, Technology Resources for Educators: Support Student Learning Using Engaging Tech. Originally I used computer generated audio from Storyline 360, which honestly sounded very computer generated. At the time it was a nice way to take my introduction up a notch as audio was not required. I added it because I wanted the biography to be accessible to a wider audience.
In the above enhanced version, I recorded my own audio. I reflected upon the purpose of the actual document: to connect with learners and in turn create a better learning experience for them. As I contemplated this assignment I realized that a computer generated voice was not the way to connect with my learners. It was necessary to record my own voice so that there could be a true connection and to engage my audience fully. I recorded the audio and edited it in Storyline 360, taking out pauses and trimming the beginning and end. I also typed up a transcript to accompany the audio, which is located in the resources section of the learning experience.
If you would like to review the previous version, click the button to the right. There is an obvious difference and you will find that the recording above is an improvement since it is my actual voice.
