Week 5: Animation Video

In week five, I was challenged to create an animation that is two to four minutes in length, published on YouTube, includes closed captioning that has been edited to include correct sentence structure, punctuation and capitalization, and also supports the learning objective.

Lessons Learned

My animation video, “What is Edpuzzle?” provides background knowledge for learners so that they may work towards mastery of objective number three in my course: Create an assignment in Edpuzzle. Once they have viewed this video learners will understand that Edpuzzle is a tool for building interactive video lessons. Learners will then be able to begin thinking about what kind of assignment they would like to create.

This OER Video is an animated introduction to the website Edpuzzle that I built on the site Doratoon. The video contains movement, but none of it is rapid and/or flashing, so as not to take away from the actual information being presented or disrupt learning for sensitive viewers. Care was taken to make sure the background music was pleasing in nature, low in volume, and not a distraction from the speaker and information.

The Edpuzzle website has many options and contains a lot of information, so it was important to prevent cognitive overload by simply mentioning the major details to give the audience an idea of what can be accomplished with this tool. Learners are able to rewind the video if they need to, helping to build understanding and review information. Closed captioning was added and edited via YouTube.
